I’m Siobhan, a student of English Literature and American Studies at the University of Birmingham. Hoarder of notepads and picture books, I like simplicity, colours, and words. I write anywhere and everywhere and rarely keep on the lines.
I’m interested in all forms of media. I present the news on Birmingham University’s student radio, as well as reporting, conducting interviews, and editing for podcasts. I’ve written pieces for the comment and features section in the University paper, Redbrick, on topics ranging from charity research to procrastination to ‘Maggie’s’, a Thatcher inspired 80s club in Chelsea. I have also contributed to and been credited as a researcher on UK360, a local news programme broadcast on the Community Channel. In my spare time I keep up a blog, where I write various musings about my life, interrupted by the occasional sordid political rant or link to an online petition.
I love good music, good film and Restoration theatre! My heroes are Joe Strummer and Winnie the Pooh.
I’m excited to join the Birmingham 2022 team, because of the scope the project provides to be creative. I’m looking forward to writing about cultural events that spark my (and hopefully others’) enthusiasm, but also to learning about and trying my hand at the more technical aspects of media, like editing and design.
